Who started Lykke Kaffe? Lykke was founded by a group of coffee roasters who decided to also become coffee farmers in order to positively influence the coffee industry and inspire better cultivation methods. Lykke established model farms in Brazil, Peru, El Salvador, Panama and Uganda, where they grow their own coffee and process coffee from neighbouring farms. Their mission is to ensure that no one and nothing is harmed when you enjoy a good cup of coffee. And sustainably grown coffee naturally also means better-tasting coffee.
Lykke Coffee Farms collaborates with other roasters Lykke Coffee Farms likes to challenge the norm and is a good example of how coffee can be roasted in different places, which has several advantages. The coffee travels a shorter distance and the reduction in transport is good for the environment. Another advantage is that instead of building a larger roastery, they also roast at other partners' facilities. In this way, they utilise their excess capacity, saving resources and increasing flexibility.
Coffee cultivation at Lykke Coffee Farms Lykke establishes model coffee farms on the highest mountain peaks in El Salvador and Panama, along beautiful snow-fed lakes across the Brazilian highlands and out over the oceans to the birthplace of coffee in East Africa. Here, they grow their coffee beans with the farmers themselves and entirely by hand. Completely organic and in harmony with nature and people. There is no cultivation of monocultures, which often requires areas of rainforest to be cleared, but rather the cultivation of plantations that are integrated into the surrounding native forests and thus do not harm nature.
As much as possible themselves What makes Lykke Coffee Farms so special? Compared to industrial and large coffee roasters, they handle as many steps in coffee production as possible themselves. This is a special task that challenges the usual way of doing things and influences the rest of the coffee industry for the better. Lykke farmers plant, dry, wash and roast all coffee beans on site themselves. And how can they ensure that local coffee farmers receive fair payment? By owning the farms and employing the farmers directly.
Lykke = Happiness Lykke, which means "happiness" in Danish, best describes the ethos of the Swedish roastery. To make coffee a source of joy for everyone involved, from the farmer to the consumer.
Instead of large-scale coffee farms, Lykke focuses on small, private coffee farms to spread knowledge about coffee and promote connections to farms, processing stations, business partners, office colleagues and consumers.
